At Rainbow Acres, we are committed to caring for each Rancher's entire being. This means providing programs intended to advance and better Ranchers in the areas of Education, Vocation, Health & Wellness and Spiritual Life. Together, these programs help Ranchers grow and thrive as well-rounded individuals.EducationWorden Lifelong Learning Center - Named in honor of long time Rainbow volunteers and supporters Winston and Phyllis Worden, the learning Center is an integral component in Rainbow's efforts to help Ranchers expand their personal horizons. Personalized instruction is available to help improve reading, math, language, cognitive skills, and teach practical information like how to wash clothes and prepare a nutritious meal. Computer work stations, with software suitable for many levels of ability, help Ranchers exercise their minds and express themselves in a variety of ways.VocationJob Coaches - Numerous Ranchers are currently working in surrounding communities with the aid of job coaches. This is an integral component of the Rainbow Acres vocational training program. Coaches monitor Ranchers' progress in community-based employment situations, provide support and advice and act as a liaison between employers and Rainbow Acres. Crews and Rancher Industries - Ranchers also have opportunities for vocational training within the Rainbow Acres grounds. Crews are engaged in a variety of activities including landscaping, bulk mail fulfillment, weaving, ceramics, stepping stones, office clean-up, equine care and more. These vocational activities provide Ranchers with duties that they are held accountable for on a daily basis, allowing them to be an integral part of Rainbow's everyday community life. Health & WellnessHealth & Wellness Programs - The Health & Wellness program at Rainbow Acres is facilitated by the staff nurse, and encourages Ranchers (and staff!) to follow lifestyles built upon sound nutrition, exercise and emotional balance. Frequent presentations on these subjects, along with an occasional "Health Fair," promote a greater awareness of important health issues within the Rainbow community. Spiritual HealthPrayer & Praise - Prayer & Praise is a monthly event that allows Ranchers to articulate their faith and strengthen the spiritual foundation of their lives. Moderated by Rainbow Acres President and CEO, Gary Wagner, Prayer & Praise is an important connection to the Christian values that guide the Rainbow community. Prayer Circle - Every weekday morning, Ranchers gather for prayer and spiritual guidance. All Ranchers are welcome to attend. Prayer Circle is usually moderated by a Rainbow staff person who is ordained as a pastor. The Ranchers themselves often direct the flow of these sessions as they seek to further their spiritual journeys. |
