Programs & Services VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Vocational Development is a multi-faceted program that allows Ranchers to develop a wide range of vocational skills. Many Ranchers achieve a level of competency which allows them to pursue employment on the Ranch, or in numerous instances, in the community. Ranchers develop a sense of responsibility as a result of these vocational opportunities, and their achievements improve their self-image.   Job Coaches An integral component of the Rainbow Acres' vocational training program are job coaches. Job coaches monitor Ranchers' progress in community-based employment situations. A job coach provides support and advice to the Ranchers, and acts as a liaison between the employer and Rainbow Acres. Numerous Ranchers are currently working in surrounding communities.   Crews & Rancher Industries Ranchers also have opportunities for vocational training within the Rainbow Acres' grounds. Crews are engaged in a variety of activities: landscaping, bulk mail fulfillment, weaving, ceramics, stepping stones, and office clean-up. (Find out more about Rainbow Acres' stepping stones.)

Ranchers have worked in a wide variety of community-based employment: road beautification crews, recycling, restaurants, etc.     Stepping stones are one of the most popular of all Rainbow Acres craft items. Here, a caregiver gets an encouraging hand on the shoulder from a Rancher as a stepping stone takes shape.
